This looks terrible, but does make me want to go back and watch the original. The saddest Horror movie ive ever seen is probably the blackcoats daughter. Just how alone, abandoned and desperate she is at the very end makes that film incredibly tragic for me. Ok at 50:45 to 50:55 to me the call sounds like The devil says you aren't safe, you're the devil's last to find. If you ever think you're safe, well run again and hide... i also kinda hear so run again colby and the first part The devil says you aren't safe it honestly sounds more like the devil says yourn't safe. lol but that's prolly more because of the accent and at the end it just sounds like incoherent yelling but If you ever think you're safe, well run again and hide. is really the best thing i can make out of it besides well run again colby and the rest i straight up just can't understand at all.

Woof. /fans self But a bit of trivia about the communist view/Cold War opinion: reviewers and critics all hyped up that aspect when the book + first movie came out. However, nearly everyone involved in the making of the story—the director, the actors, even the author of the book — said Communism didn't even cross their minds once when making the story. I love me some good old Cold War tension and dread, but rather ironically, the movie that fits in most with the Red Scare isn't. even a Red Scare movie at all.

I think the part where the witch offers Luke some chocolate when he's up a tree is scary, she can't hear you… and she's got purple eyes, squared shoes and the chocolate turns into a snake. That really affected me as a kid something about the witch's calm and quiet malice, how she goes from kind to sinister so fluidly gives me the heeby jeebies still. I knew it. The Grand High Witch doesn't need a magical potion, spell, or a wand, she'll use her enchanted spoon. 🥄🥄🥄. I mean. It definitely could have done without Chris rock narrating it.

Is it just me or does the “hanging baby” sound a lot like a possum. I always loved that movie too. The ending blew my mind! Sunderland killed it. perfectly... 😁. I have to admit: putting together The Witches and Everybody Hates Chris was an interesting choice. It looks overprocessed and not scary at all. The thing about the original is that even though it was based on a childrens book, it didnt feel like a kids movie. I was actually scared as a kid, in a good way. Its meant to make you feel uneasy at all ages. The graphics are overdone here and make it feel cartoony taking away its charm altogether. Its like Stuart Little part 2. Not everything geared towards a general audience has to be comedic and cartoony. Disappointed. The only problem is that marvel doesnt know how to reboot/reenergize continuity like DC can. Marvel albeit has better movies but DC has the better comics and more memorable stories than marvel. 1978 version had a creepy atmosphere. It reminds me of Escape From Alcatraz where the mood and soundtrack makes it feel like a horror movie. Off course its directed by the original Invasion of the body snatchers director Don Siegel. Wolverine the best we dont want you to die. we want you to continue. no one can replace you. not even a clown...

One thing to mention is that throughout the film the daughter and mother relationship is shown as rocky, however during the entire film we do see that theyre actually more connected than anyone else in the family. With them both sharing the same dream of the mother seeing her daughter by the bed and the daughter dreaming of her being by her parents bed. Also obviously at the end of them describing the same exact vision / hallucination of the mother walking through the house into the daughters bedroom and the daughter being in the bedroom when her mother walks in. Sad thing to note, the family at the end think the “puzzle” is solved and her daughter is at peace but the very last photo they take shows her watching them from inside the house as theyre leaving her behind, by herself. I think the daughter still wasnt at peace but far from it.
